Over 6,000 students in Masbate, Catanduanes receive gift bags from Kapuso Foundation
Over 6,000 students in Catanduanes and Masbate who were affected by Typhoon Rolly last year received gift bags from the Kapuso Foundation.
According to a "24 Oras" report on Monday, more than 3,000 students from Palta Elementary School were the beneficiaries of the "Give a Gift" project.
The package, which includes food, hygiene kits, and toys, were handed to the parents of the students.
It was a much-needed relief of Delma Tablizo, a mother of 11 children who has struggled to earn an income after the typhoon.
"Hindi namin inaasahan na ganun ang mangyayari sa kanya. Kaya talagang hirap na hirap ako kung saan ako kukuha ng pera. Nangutang din ako," said the mother, who earns around P350 selling kakanin every day.
"Basta meron kaming bigas, kahit talbos ng kamote nilaga namin para makapakain ako ng mga anak ko," she said.
The Kapuso Foundation also visited 13 schools in Masbate to distribute gift bags to 3,000 more students.
"Ito'y isang napakalaking tulong hindi lamang sa kanilang karagdagang pangangailangan, ganon din mas lalong malaki sa kanilang tulong moral at emotional," said Aroline Borja, Department of Education (DepEd) Catanduanes' Senior Education Program Specialist.
Donations can be made through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
