Over P18.9M worth of marijuana seized in Tarlac; 6 arrested —PNP
A total of 158 kilograms of marijuana worth P18.96 million were seized in a buy bust operation in Concepcion, Tarlac on Thursday, the Philippine National Police said.
In a statement, PNP said the operation was conducted by various police units in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Tarlac.
Police report showed that they conducted the operation against two suspects who sold 25 kilos of suspected marijuana worth P3 million to a poseur buyer.
Four others were also arrested while transacting with the drug peddlers.
"Further investigation revealed that these suspects are actively engaged in the Illegal drug trade activities, specifically Marijuana within Region 1 and 3", PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said.
"Recent accomplishments against drug syndicates manifest the responsiveness of PNP units to the national government’s campaign against illegal drugs and criminality," he added.
Authorities also seized three pieces of P1,000 with UV dust powder used as buy-bust money together with 145 pieces of boodle money, a cellular phone used in the transaction of marijuana, a Toyota Altis, a cellphone, and 100 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, PNP said.
The suspects and evidence were brought to the PNP provincial drug enforcement unit while documents for the filing of complaints are being readied, the PNP added. — BM, GMA News
