Six-year-old who drowned is lone fatality in Auring onslaught


The lone fatality amid the onslaught of tropical storm Auring has been identified as a six-year-old child who drowned in Surigao del Sur, Office of Civil Defense chief Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad has said.

In a briefing attended by President Rodrigo Duterte, Jalad said the number of missing individuals climbed to four. Three of those yet to be accounted for are fishermen who went out to sea in Bislig.

The NDRRMC has said a total of 31,884 families in Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao, and Bicol Regions were affected by the weather disturbance.

A total of 18,996 families in Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Western Visayas have evacuated from their homes due to the threat of Auring.

In Caraga and Davao Regions, at least 60 houses were totally damaged while 180 were partially damaged.

A total of 12 roads and one bridge were affected by the weather disturbance in Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Davao Regions, according to NDRRMC.

Jalad said seven of these roads are now passable.

On Monday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal has been lifted as Tropical Depression Auring downgraded into a low pressure area (LPA). -NB, GMA News
