Bataan road mishap toll rises to 4

The death toll in Wednesday’s predawn road mishap in Bataan province rose to four even as investigators remain in the dark as to who will take the heat for the deadly incident. Radio dzBB reported early Thursday that a fourth victim had died while undergoing treatment. The report, however, did not initially identify the latest fatality. At least 29 people were injured in the incident, most of them Aeta children who were heading for Zambales province to fulfill a yearly vow to visit the fiesta of the Ina ng Poong Bato in Botolan town. As of Thursday morning, police investigators are eyeing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries, and damage to property against the driver of the delivery truck that slammed the reportedly overloaded passenger jeepney along the national highway in Dinalupihan town. Charges of negligence, meanwhile, loom against the driver of the passenger jeep. The victims were passengers of the jeep (CXC)-300) that collided with a trailer truck owned by Federal Express (CUN-729). - GMANews.TV
