Blasts hit TransCo lines in Lanao; contingency measures up
The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) activated "contingency measures" to normalize power supply in Mindanao after three separate bomb attacks hit the firm's transmission lines Friday. TransCo admitted that its power transmission capacity to various parts of Mindanao was reduced after the attacks. In a statement sent to media Friday afternoon, TransCo said its line crews have been dispatched to the area to immediately start repairs on Tower 8 and 9 of the Abaga-Tagoloan line in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte, and Tower 50 of the Agus 2-Kibawe line in Fatima, Iligan City. Emmanuel Abellanosa, TransCo OIC-assistant vice president, said the company is dealing with the reduced transmission capacity "in accordance with its contingency plan." TransCo admitted that the recent series of bombings have affected the efficient delivery of electricity to several provinces in Mindanao. âAll remedial measures are being done to restore the affected lines at the earliest time possible," Abellanosa said. An improvised explosive device was reportedly used in the separate explosions. - GMANews.TV
