Motorists strictly checked at 'NCR Plus' checkpoint at border of Tagaytay and Talisay
Authorities have been strict in checking motorists at the checkpoint at the border of Tagaytay City, Cavite and Talisay, Batangas, turning away motorists who were found violating protocols.
Before dawn on Tuesday morning, some motorists were not allowed entry into Tagaytay and were forced to go back since they were not authorized persons outside residence (APOR) and it was still curfew, according to a report by Mai Bermudez on GMA News' Unang Balita.
The checkpoint is located three kilometers away from Barangay San Guillermo, Talisay.
Motorists have to stop at the checkpoint, show their ID or documents proving they are APOR, and state their purpose in traveling before they are allowed to enter Cavite, which is part of the "NCR Plus" bubble.
One man in a tricycle was caught transporting a passenger who is a minor. He explained they came from Tanauan, Batangas and were going home to Silang, Cavite. Those below 18 years old are not allowed to go out of their homes under general community quarantine. Authorities later allowed them to pass through the checkpoint for humanitarian reasons.
Batangas is not part of the "NCR Plus" bubble which was formed starting Monday, March 22.
The "NCR Plus" bubble covers Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal. Non-essential travel into and from the NCR Plus bubble is restricted until April 4 in a bid to prevent the further transmission of COVID-19. —KG, GMA News
