Groom-to-be dies after being hit by truck while sending out wedding invitations
A groom-to-be died after he and his fiancée were hit by a truck while they were on their way to distribute their wedding invitations.
According to Oscar Oida’s “24 Oras” report Friday, Jonex Balano and Melejie Hermoso were on their parked motorcycle when the truck behind them suddenly ran over them in Fausta Calinan, Davao City, on Wednesday.
A witness was able to take a video of Balano lying under the wheel while rescuers responded to the emergency.
The couple were rushed to the hospital via a tricycle but, unfortunately, Balano did not make it.
Hermoso said they had big plans for their wedding, which was supposed to be held on April 7.
“Pinaghirapan talaga namin ito para maging espesyal ’yung kasal namin, pero ito na, nagkabaong na siya,” she said.
[We really worked hard for this so that our wedding will be special, but now, he’s in a coffin.]
She also worried for their child because she said she did not earn enough and was not permanent at her job.
Meanwhile, Calinan police station commander P/Maj. Vic Goles said the truck driver was at fault because he probably thought the motorcycle in front of him had left and did not notice that it was still there.
The driver had surrendered and was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. – RC, GMA News
