Bishop-emeritus Antonio Palang passes away at 74

Bishop-emeritus Antonio Palang of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro died on Wednesday.

He was 74.

On Facebook, the SVD Philippine Northern Province for Communication, Information, Updates and Reflections said Palang succumbed to cardiac arrest in the morning.

"May the Soul of Bishop Tony, through the Mercy of God, Rest in Peace," the SVD said.

Palang was ordained priest for the Society of the Divine Word in 1972. He was appointed as the second bishop of San Jose in 2002.

Palang was a former prefect and rector of St. Augustine Minor Seminary in Calapan City.

He was also a parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish in Bongabong. --NB, GMA News
