Robbery, kidnap suspects killed in SLEX shootout
Two alleged members of a notorious robbery and kidnap group were killed on Thursday afternoon after a shootout with police officers on Southern Luzon Expressway in Calamba, Laguna, which also caused heavy traffic.
A spot report from Laguna police showed that Metro Manila police Anti-Carnapping elements were conducting a hot pursuit operation against the two still unidentified assailants on board a white Toyota van along Silangan Exit at 2:10 p.m.
Suspects, however, sensed the presence of the police officers and shot at the lawmen. The two men died in the shooting incident.
According to the report, police hatched the operation after they received a report of two men who allegedly kidnapped a Chinese national at Parañaque City.
In a report from GMA News stringer Robert Maico, the fatal shooting is causing heavy traffic at an area of SLEX-Southbound in Calamba. The white van riddled with bullet holes was still parked along the highway.
