Davao City seeks 25-day MECQ

The Davao City government has asked the national government's pandemic task force to place the locality under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) for 25 days.

In Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras," the city government said a 25-day MECQ must be imposed starting June 5 to create a "circuit breaker" that would address the COVID-19 surge in the locality.

As of Thursday, the City government registered 2,013 active cases and 17,528 total cases of the virus.

In a previous televised briefing, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed the less strict general community quarantine (GCQ) over Davao City and other areas for the whole month of June. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
