Barangay captain shot to death in Lipa City —police

A barangay captain in Lipa City, Batangas died after two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle shot him on Wednesday morning, the city police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Barangay Pagolingin East captain Cesar Catibog, 68 years old.

A police report indicated that the victim, along with his driver, alighted from a barangay patrol vehicle along Torres Street in Barangay 6 at about 7:40 a.m.

Unidentified men aboard a black and orange Honda BeAt shot the victim several times, hitting him in forehead.

After the attack, the suspects fled towards the Lipa City Proper direction, the police added.

Authorities said the victim was rushed by his driver to NL Villa Medical Center, but the attending physician declared him dead shortly after arrival. —LBG, GMA News
