San Carlos Bishop Alminaza tests positive for COVID-19

San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza has announced on Sunday that he tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Alminaza is currently under quarantine and undergoing treatment.

“Now, God allows me to be on the other side among the infected of this dreaded virus,” the prelate said.

“Rest assured that I am given the best possible medical attention available,” he said.

Alminaza, 61, also asked for prayers for healing.

“I ask for everyone’s prayers for my fast healing as well as for other Covid-19 patients even as I assure you too of my constant prayers and offerings,” Alminaza said.

“My prayers for our frontliners have now become more heartfelt,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Vicar General of the San Carlos diocese, Msgr. Erwin Magnanao will take over the bishop's administrative duties.

Bishop Alminaza, according to the CBCP post, is the 11th Filipino bishop to test positive for COVID-19. -- BAP, GMA News
