Garcia: Bataan to be placed under ECQ; Mariveles, ECQ with heightened restrictions
Bataan will be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the month of August due to a spike of coronavirus disease cases in the province, Governor Abet Garcia said Wednesday.
According to Mariz Umali's report on "Saksi", Garcia said Mariveles, considered the epicenter of COVID-19 cases in the province, would be placed under ECQ with heightened restrictions.
In a Facebook post, Garcia said Bataan was still waiting for the Inter-Agency Task Force's response on their appeal to place the province in the toughest classification of quarantine.
He also advised residents to not resort to panic buying as public markets and groceries will be open during the ECQ.
Each household will be receiving 25 kilograms of rice during the strictest lockdown implementation, he also promised to residents.
The mayor of Mariveles, Bataan had asked the national government to provide more vaccine doses as only 3,000 of over 149,000 residents were vaccinated versus COVID-19.
In Malacañang's previous announcement, Bataan will be under modified enhanced community quarantine until August 15, 2021. —NB, GMA News
