Cops destroy P4.8M worth of marijuana plantation in Benguet

Some P4.8 million worth of marijuana plantation in Sitio Dacap Kayapa in Bakun, Benguet was destroyed during a joint operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Philippine National Police said Sunday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the joint operation discovered and burned an 800 square meters of marijuana farm and 30 kilograms of abandoned dried marijuana stalks.

Authorities said no cultivators were apprehended during the operation, but Eleazar warned farmers against cultivating marijuana.

"Hindi tayo titigil sa pagsasagawa ng mga ganitong operasyon hangga't hindi natin nauubos ang mga tanim ng ipinagbabawal na halaman, alinsunod sa ating ipinatutupad na programang Intensified Cleanliness Policy at paghuli sa mga patuloy na nagtatanim nito," he said. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LBG, GMA News
