Bohol COVID-19 death toll breach 300 mark
TAGBILARAN CITY - The death toll in Bohol province due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crossed the 300-mark on Sunday, as the province face an increase of infections.
According to the data from the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF), on Monday the province recorded five deaths pushing the cumulative count to 310. That is including province's first COVID-19 Delta variant death.
Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of BIATF, had said the COVID-19 fatality was among the five Delta variant cases involving Bohol residents that were reported by the Philippine Genome Center on August 27, 2021.
The fatality was a 77-year-old farmer from San Miguel town who had comorbidities.
Meanwhile, there were 176 new cases recorded on Monday which brings the active cases to 2,045 . It is the fourth straight day that daily cases topped 200.
The province now has 14,170 confirmed cases since last year, 11,815 of whom had recovered from the disease.
Health authorities urge residents to follow the minimum health standards such as wearing of mask, social distancing and vaccination. -- BAP, GMA News
