DENR forester's body found in Quezon river

The body of a forester of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources was found in General Nakar on Saturday morning, the DENR Calabarzon said.

The fatality was identified as DENR4A Forest Monitoring Officer Rigor Santos.

His body was found two kilometers away from Pagsangahan Bridge at around 11 a.m.

Santos has been missing for since October 28. He was reportedly swept away by the current and drowned while traversing Kanan River during survey and mapping activities at a proposed e-NGP site in Barangay Mahabang Lalim.

Search and rescue operations were conducted since then by local authorities and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Real Quick Response Team. The indigenous peoples in General Nakar were also alerted and asked to conduct search and rescue operations along the banks of the Agos River.

It was only after three days when his body was found.

Santos' body was immediately retrieved and brought to the town proper of General Nakar.

The DENR Calabarzon said Santos, 30, was a native of Tanay, Rizal.

He graduated with a degree in agricultural technology from the University of Rizal System.

Santos was assigned to the Regional National Greening Program Coordinating Office of DENR Calabarzon. He has been with the department for almost eight years.
