Son of Cagayan de Oro congressman shot dead

The son of Cagayan de Oro 1st District Representative Rolando Klarex Uy was gunned down on Thursday afternoon in Barangay Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro City, along with his caretaker.

According to a police spot report, the victims were identified as Roland Sherwin Uy, 45, and Samuel Pabalan, 73.

Upon receiving a tip on a shooting incident, lawmen immediately went to Zone 1 and found the bodies of the two victims lying on the ground.

Tabalan suffered from a gunshot wound in his right eye while Uy had a gunshot wound in his left eye, police said.

Police then interviewed the younger Uy's driver, Rubie Alayuay, who narrated that he was inside the comfort room when he heard the conversation between the congressman's son and suspects who were pretending to buy sand and gravel.

Alayuay also told police that he subsequently heard gunshots and stayed in the toilet as he feared for his safety. He also indicated that the suspects managed to escape on motorcycles.
