Magnitude 5.4 quake strikes southeast of Davao Occidental island
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck 135 kilometers southeast of Davao Occidental's Balut Island on Saturday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.
The quake struck at 2:01 p.m., was tectonic in origin, and had an 82-kilometer depth of focus.
The tremor was felt at Intensity III in Sarangani, Davao Occidental;
Intensity II in Kiamba and Malungon, Sarangani; and Intensity I at Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
It was also measured at an Instrumental Intensity I in General Santos City; Koronadal City, South Cotabato; and Zamboanga City.
While no damage was expected from the earthquake, aftershocks were likely. — DVM, GMA News
