7 killed after minibus rams into tricycle, waiting shed in Pampanga —police

Seven people were killed while several others were hospitalized after a minibus rammed into a tricycle and a group of people in a waiting shed in Lubao, Pampanga, on Sunday, police said.

In a Super Radyo dzBB interview on Monday, Lubao Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Javier said the minibus came from Bataan and was on its way to San Fernando, Pampanga.

The incident happened along Olongapo-Gapan Road in Barangay San Isidro.

“Base sa mga witness natin, hindi naman nila totally nakita. Ang narinig lang kasi nila ‘yung malakas na ingay, ‘yung pagbangga ng bus sa tricycle,” he said.

(According to the witnesses, they didn’t totally see what happened but they heard a loud noise when the bus crashed with the tricycle.)

Javier said the bus conductor was among the fatalities while the driver was still confined at a hospital after undergoing operation on Sunday night.

Also among the fatalities were two of the six passengers of the tricycle, as well as the tricycle driver.

“May siyam pa tayong naka-confine sa JBL [Nine people were still confined at the JBL],” Javier said, referring to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital.

“‘Yung iba po, na-confine rin tapos ‘yung iba naman po after magamot, in-advise na rin na umuwi [Others were confined while others were advised to go home after treatment],” he added. —KBK, GMA News
