Kapuso schools in Bohol remained standing amid Odette onslaught, served as shelter for residents
A Bohol resident whose home got damaged by Typhoon Odette's onslaught sought shelter from one of GMA Kapuso Foundation's built classrooms.
According to a "24 Oras" report, Monday, the buildings built for five schools in 2016 remained standing even as other structures and trees in the province were swept away.
Teofisto Plaza chose to bring his family to the building at the Cabanugan Integrated School in San Isidro, saying that he knew they would be safe there.
"Nag-volunteer na 'ko. Alam ko matibay talaga 'yan. Kung wala 'yang Kapuso classroom, baka patay na kami," he said. "Wala nang mauwian sa amin. Wala na talaga."
To help the family amid the difficult situation, the GMA Kapuso Foundation provided Plaza with some relief goods.
Meanwhile, over 50 residents also evacuated at the Calatrava Elementary School building in Carmen.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is still conducting relief operations. It has also started giving aid in Roxas, Palawan, which was also affected by Typhoon Odette.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Pay Maya, Zalora, Mega Mart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
