Baguio City restricts mobility of 11 years old and below, unvaccinated 12-17

The Baguio City government has imposed restrictions on the movement of children 11 years old and below as well as those unvaccinated persons aged 12 to 17.

In a radio interview, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the policy would be implemented from Friday, January 21, to January 31, 2022. He said many of their COVID-19 cases belong to these age groups.

“Nagbigay ako ng executive order noong isang araw but it will take effect on January 21 na ire-restrict na namin yung movement ng mga 11 years old and below, and unvaccinated 12 to 17,” he said.

(I issued an order an executive order the other day but it will take effect on January 21 that we will restrict the movement of 11 years old, and unvaccinated 12 to 17.)

Out of the 5,420 COVID-19 cases in the city, 282 were 11 years and below while 190 cases were 12 to 17 years old, most of them unvaccinated, Magalong said.

He said these groups are prohibited from going to enclosed spaces like malls and indoor restaurants. They will only be allowed in outdoor areas and activities such as parks and gardens.

According to Magalong, the city government is also monitoring the mobility of their residents through graphs and its connection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.

During the third and fourth quarter of December last year, he said the mobility of residents in the city increased to 40%.

Magalong said Baguio City has 5,180 average daily cases for the past seven days and currently has around 4,200 active cases. —KBK, GMA News
