6 provinces placed under Alert Level 3 starting Jan. 28, 2022


The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Thursday placed six provinces under Alert Level 3 starting Friday, January 28, due to the increase in COVID-19 infections.

The alert level will be in effect in the following provinces until February 15:

  • Palawan
  • Camiguin
  • Davao Occidental
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Sulu

Under Alert Level 3, several establishments are allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity but exclusively for fully vaccinated people, and 50% outdoor venue capacity as long as employees are fully vaccinated.

In-person classes, contact sports, fun fairs, perya, and casinos are among the activities and establishments that are prohibited under Alert Level 3.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 18,191 new COVID-19 infections bringing the country’s COVID-19 tally to 3,493,447.

The DOH said the total recoveries climbed to 3,213,190 after 22,014 more patients recovered from the viral disease. Meanwhile, 74 new fatalities brought the death toll to 53,736. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
