8 kids test positive for COVID-19 after playing near lab's medical waste

Eight out of 23 children in Virac, Catanduanes tested positive for COVID-19 after playing near the area where a diagnostics laboratory dumps its hazardous wastes.

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Monday, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) said it found violations in the laboratory's waste dumping practices.

The laboratory was given until February 9 to submit its position paper regarding the incident.

Mag-i-inspect din.  Magko-conduct ng inspection, actual inspection doon sa mismong center,” Andy Po, of the MENRO, Virac said.
