COVID-19 cases decreasing in Visayas HUCs —OCTA

Downward trend of COVID-19 cases were seen in highly-urbanized cities in Visayas, but the areas remained at high to very high risk, the OCTA Research reported Wednesday.

In a tweet, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said as of February 1, Bacolod, Cebu City, Iloilo City, and Mandaue remained at very high risk, while Lapu Lapu, Ormoc, and Tacloban were at high risk.

Iloilo City had an average daily attack rate of 64.06%; Cebu City had 40.32%; Bacolod had 27.26%; and Mandaue had 29.99%.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

Iloilo City's positivity rate was at 35%; Cebu City had 26%; Bacolod had 42%; and Mandaue had 29%.

Lapu Lapu, meanwhile, had an ADAR of 39.83%; Ormoc had 9.12% and Tacloban had 15.62%.

Lapu Lapu's positivity rate was at 36%; Ormoc had 75%; and Tacloban had 24%.

Among the cities, Bacolod had the highest reproduction rate with a "high" 1.38, followed by Mandaue with 1.28, and Iloilo City with 1.27.

Reproduction rate refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

Mandaue had a "high" healthcare utilization rate at 78%.
