NBI arrests 3 individuals in Zamboanga for large scale estafa

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested last week three people in Zamboanga City for large scale estafa.

In a statement, NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor identified the suspects as Francis Dalguntas, Rehan Tamorada, and Farha Sali.

Distor said the entrapment operation on February 7 stemmed from an investigation and case build-up after a complaint was lodged before the NBI-Western Mindanao Regional Office alleging that the suspects were using the name of NWORLD Corporation and Alphanetworld Corporation in their swindling activities.

Based on the complaint, NWORLD and Alphanet are engaged in recruitment by convincing and promising their victims a return of 15% to 20% income, P20,000 worth of beauty products, and P100,000 worth of insurance in exchange for their P10,000 investment.

"But in truth, no such thing exists," the NBI said.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, NWORLD and Alphanet were registered in their system but were not authorized to engage in the pooling of investments, thus violating the Securities Regulation Code.

Seized from the suspects were identification cards, cash, boodle money, a mobile phone, various documents of quit-claim, distributors application form, and a tablet. — VBL, GMA News
