DOJ to endorse 250 cases of deaths during drug ops to NBI

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra reported before the United Nations Human Rights Council that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will soon endorse 250 cases of deaths related to anti-illegal drugs operations of the government in Central Luzon, according to a report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday.

"The Philippines will remain positively engaged with the international community and all human rights mechanisms on all issues concerning rule of law and accountability institutions in the country," Guevarra reported.

"But we will draw the line between parties that engage in good faith and those that abuse and exploit these mechanisms to make demands of accountability with little or no factual basis," he added.

In a statement, Malacañang said the DOJ's report before the UN shows that the government has mechanisms in place to deal with abusive officials. -- BAP, GMA News
