Trainer aircraft ditches in Iba, Zambales

A trainer aircraft carrying student pilots and marshals ditched in Iba, Zambales, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Thursday.

In a statement, the CAAP said a Rockwell Commander 685 or Aero Commander 685 aircraft used for a test flight was ditched 500 meters from the shoreline at Purok 3, Barangay Sto. Rosario of the said municipality around 7:10 a.m.

The aircraft, which was operated by Sentinel Logistic Air Management, carried six passengers involving student pilots, marshals, and the pilot.

The passengers and the pilot on board the aircraft were brought to the hospital following a rescue conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and some local fishermen in the area.

CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) investigators Colonel Rommel Ronda and Ralph Fango were dispatched to examine the incident. — Jamil Santos/RSJ, GMA News
