Iloilo church group to lead 'Walk for Truth'
ILOILO CITY, Philippines - A church-based organization will lead a âwalk for truth" on February 29 here, a report posted on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines website said. The report said that the Promotion of Church People's Response (PCPR) Panay-Guimaras chapter will hold an inter-faith prayer rally for truth and justice at 1 p.m. The 'walk' will start from the St. Clementâs Church grounds, La Paz to the Capitol grounds. This was announced by Amie Dural, PCPR secretary general, in a press conference Thursday. She added that the PCPR will join hands with thousands of enlightened church people who choose to stand for what is right and denounce what is evil. Not even the lack of CBCP's open call for Arroyo's resignation, she said, can stop the momentum of the protest movement among the religious and lay faithful who are committed to engage in communal prayers and actions for truth, justice and meaningful change. âThe mandate of our Christian faith compels us to join the Filipino people in the quest for truth, justice, accountability and meaningful change," Dural said. The rally will be held in response to Jaro, Iloilo archbishop Angel Lagdameo's call for communal action. âPCPR commends Lagdameo for issuing statements that effectively encouraged the people to stage communal reflection and protest actions against the morally bankrupt Arroyo government," Dural said. - GMANews.TV
