State of calamity declared in a barangay in South Cotabato due to cholera outbreak


Local authorities placed a barangay in Surallah, South Cotabato under a state of calamity due to a cholera outbreak.

The said barangay is Colongulo, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Ten residents were hospitalized after experiencing diarrhea.

Four of them tested positive for cholera.

A nine-year-old child meanwhile died.

The local government unit's committee on health said coliform bacteria was detected in the water source used by residents for drinking water.

A few toilets in some sitios also posed problems. —KG, GMA News
