Cops deployed as bus marshals in Soccsksargen after Koronadal blast

Police in Region 12 has ordered the deployment of policemen as bus marshals after last week's explosion inside a passenger bus in Koronadal City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Joyce Birrey, spokesperson for Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12), on Monday said the bus marshals are deployed to all bus companies operating in Soccsksargen.

Aside from the marshals, additional police personnel are also designated in all terminals in the region to ensure security.

“After the incident the Regional Director PRO12 immediately issued orders to all [provincial and city directors] to deploy bus marshals on all bus companies traveling in Region 12,” she told GMA News Online in a message.

On May 26, a male tricycle driver was hurt in an explosion inside a bus in Koronadal City in South Cotabato, according to the military.

The explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), it added.

Authorities said the explosion occurred inside a Yellow Bus Line unit along Gensan Drive in front of a bank in Barangay Zone 3.  —KBK, GMA News
