17 passengers hurt in CamSur bus mishap

At least 17 passengers of a provincial bus bound for Tacloban City sustained injuries after the vehicle tilted in Camarines Sur on Tuesday evening.

According to a report on Super Radyo's dzBB, the passenger bus came from Pasay City and was traversing Andaya Highway in Camarines Sur at around 8 p.m. when it suddenly tilted before hitting an electrical post.

The victims were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are eyeing the inclement weather as one of the possible causes of the accident. Heavy rains continued to prevail over Quezon province and the Bicol region due to the low pressure area.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle is currently under police custody. After questioning, he said he evaded another vehicle which caused the passenger bus to tilt.

The affected road is now passable after the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police wrapped up their joint rescue operations. -- Sundy Locus/BAP, GMA News
