Motorcycle rider hits cop while evading Abra checkpoint

A motorcycle rider hit a cop while trying to evade a checkpoint in Abra province's Bangued town, according to a Monday "24 Oras" report.

CCTV footage showed the rider was near the checkpoint when he suddenly U-turned to avoid it. A person tried to flag down the motorcyclist, who ended up falling over a policeman.

Initial investigation showed the rider had no license, and the registration of the motorcycle he was driving was expired.

The driver explained that he accidentally hit the accelerator, and that was why he crash into the policeman.

The motorcyclist is in police custody and is facing multiple charges. He was also ticketed due to his violations. — Sundy Locus/DVM, GMA News
