Magnitude 6.0 quake strikes off Dalupiri Island in Cagayan Valley

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit off Dalupiri Island, Calayan in Cagayan Valley early Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake occurred at 2:40 a.m. 27 kilometers east of Dalupiri Island, tectonic in origin, and with a depth of 27 kilometers.

The quake was felt in the following areas:

Intensity V - Aparri and Calayan, Cagayan; Flora, Apayao

Intensity IV - Penablanca and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

Intensity III - Vigan City and Sinait, Ilocos Sur

Damage is not expected, PHIVOLCS added, but there will be aftershocks. -- BAP, GMA News
