7,145 MILF, MNLF members pass special exam to join PNP

A total of 7,145 examinees or 64.77% of 11, 033 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) have passed the National Police Commission’s (NAPOLCOM) Special Qualifying Eligibility Examination (NSQE) held on May 29.

The Bangsamoro Information Office said the exam result was released on Monday, July 12, or two months after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted the exam in the cities of Cotabato and Lamitan.

The NSQE was held pursuant to Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) which provides the former MILF and MNLF members appropriate eligibility for temporary appointment to the rank of patrolman/patrolwoman in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The NAPOLCOM earlier clarified that passing the NSQE does not automatically guarantee recruitment to the PNP.

The exam passers are expected to undergo training and PNP recruitment process such as body mass index (BMI), physical agility test (PAT), neurological exam, medical, dental exam, drug test, complete background check as well as final board interview.

A permanent appointment may only be given upon satisfaction of the prescribed educational requirement of a baccalaureate degree which they have to obtain within fifteen (15) years upon entry to the PNP, as prescribed under Section 14 of Republic Act 8551.

BARMM Cabinet Secretary Mohd Asnin Pendatun said they were very grateful that they have a high passing rate for the qualifying exam.

“We are very happy because the sacrifice of our applicants has paid off. We understand that the validation process of the application is meticulous because we have to ensure that applicants are legitimate MILF and MNLF members,” he added.

He also said the Bangsamoro government will continue to provide assistance to improve the applicants’ experience in getting admitted to PNP agencies.

Meanwhile, Pendatun clarified speculations that there was bribery during the recruitment for aspiring MILF and MILF members.

“Ang mga naririnig po nating bayaran ay haka-haka lamang at wala pong other expenses na kailangan e-prepare or “under the table” na bayaran na sinasabi. Rest assured na wala pong additional or extra ordinary na kailangang bayaran except na lang doon sa mga test,” he said.—AOL, GMA News
