VP Sara visits Odette damaged Bohol schools

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Friday visited and checked the schools in Bohol that were damaged by Typhoon Odette last year.

She met with teachers and personnel of the Clarin National School of Fisheries and they discussed the needs of schools in the province.

Odette could be considered the fiercest tropical cyclone to hit the country in 2021, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) had said.

The areas most affected by Odette were northeastern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, Duterte also attended Bohol's 168th founding anniversary celebration at the Bohol Cultural Center where she lauded
residents for their efforts to ensure the province's recovery from the typhoon.

"Moving to a better tomorrow through a united vision is a noble gift in our hands. Not every place has a gift like this,” Duterte said.

"Through your unity, there is no doubt that the day will come when you will see the fruit of your efforts," she added.

She said the destruction brought by Odette was "no match for the hard work of leaders and the contributions of the Boholanos in rebuilding the province back into its iconic beauty."

“Bohol is dear to my heart. Last year, I was with you when you surmounted the devastation of Typhoon Odette. Those were difficult, sleepless days and nights for all of you. Yet, I witnessed how you ascended to acceptance, forgiveness, and starting anew,” Duterte said.
