Ilocos Sur governor lifts suspension of work in public, private sectors

Ilocos Sur Governor Jeremias Singson on Friday lifted the suspension of work in public and private sectors in the province following the magnitude 7 quake that hit Northern Luzon on Wednesday.

In his Executive Order No. 10, Singsong said it was recommended to lift the indefinite suspension of work in public and private sectors in the province after “assessment and evaluation where the safety of various workplaces has been determined.”

“Agencies and instrumentalities of the government, and all business establishments may operate, with a skeleton workforce on-site from July 29, 2022 to July 31, 2022, provided that a greater on-site capacity may be required for agencies/sectors providing health and emergency frontline services, disaster risk reduction and management, or other essential services,” he said.

“Provided, further, that their respective structures, buildings, and workplaces shall be duly certified as physically fit for work activities ensuring safety by the City/Municipal Engineering Office of their respective LGUs,” he added.

All operations in the public and private sectors shall be 100% on-site capacity starting August 1, the Ilocos Sur governor said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said the number of reported fatalities due to the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Abra on July 27 increased to six.

The agency said one fatality was reported from Ilocos Region while five were reported and eventually confirmed in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Four people were reported missing in CAR and 136 were injured in Ilocos, Cagayan, and Cordillera due to the earthquake, according to the NDRRMC.

Meanwhile, a total of 79,260 people or 19,486 families in 246 barangays in Ilocos and CAR were affected by the earthquake, the NDRRMC said. -NB, GMA News
