14 rescued after boat capsized off Sulu waters — PCG
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said 14 people, including six children, were rescued after their motorbanca capsized one nautical mile off Maimbung Pier, Sulu on August 6.
In a statement, the PCG said Philippine Army's 41st Infantry Battalion coordinated with them around 6:20 p.m. about a distress call from a boat passenger identified as Haber Munap, 35.
Munap told authorities they were from Tapul, Sulu and heading to Maimbung, Sulu when they experienced a sudden change in sea condition, which caused the motorbanca to capsize.
Rescuers were able to find the 14 passengers, who were turned over to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Regional Health Unit of Maimbung for medical assistance.
The motorbanca was turned over to the Maimbung government for proper disposition, the PCG said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
