NBI rescues 21 women from alleged Nueva Vizcaya prostitution den; 2 arrested
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents rescued 21 women from a Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya videoke bar that was allegedly used for sex trafficking activities.
In a statement, the NBI said that Bayombong District Office (NBI-BAYDO) agents arrested two suspects, identified as Evangelina Torres Escalante and Analyn Estabillo Torres, during the operation.
The operation stemmed from allegations that the videoke bar was engaged in prostitution. Women, supposed guest relations officers (GROs), were offered to customers for P1,500 to P3,000.
After investigating the matter, authorities launched an entrapment operation last August 8.
The owner of the bar, identified as Christopher Jun Pernand Domingo, was not around at the time of the operation, the NBI said.
The two arrested suspects were presented for inquest at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Nueva Vizcaya for violating Republic Act No. 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
Domingo was also charged with the same offense. — DVM, GMA News
