Comelec starts ballot printing for Calaca, Batangas plebiscite

The printing of official ballots for the plebiscite in Calaca, Batangas scheduled in September this year has started, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday.

In a press release, Comelec said printing of ballots and accountable forms for the plebiscite was held at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.

A plebiscite was set on September 20 to ratify the conversion of the municipality of Calaca, Batangas into a component city.

“Each ballot measures 4.5 by 8 and bears the question, ‘Pumapayag ka ga na ang munisipalidad ng Calaca ay gawing isang lungsod ng probinsya ng Batangas na kikilalanin bilang lungsod ng Calacala alinsunod sa Batas ng Republika Bilang 11544 na kilala din bilang Charter of the City of Calaca?” the poll body said.

Voters then will have to write either “Yes” or “OO” to vote for the approval of the proposal, or “No” or “Hindi” to vote for its rejection.

Data from the Comelec printing committee showed that a total of 58,881 official ballots were printed Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the poll body said the printing of official ballots will continue in the upcoming days for the plebiscite to ratify the division of Maguindanao into Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur on September 17.

The Maguindanao plebiscite will have 818,790 ballots, the Comelec added.—LDF, GMA News
