Boat capsizes as group takes photos off Siargao Island

What was supposed to be a fun picture-taking for a group near Siargao Island turned into s scary experience after the boat they were riding suddenly capsized, Saleema Refran reported on “24 Oras”.

A video caught the frightening situation where the 12 victims will be heard calling for help. 

“Nag-panic talaga kaming lahat. Hindi lang ‘yung mga bata. Halos kasi lahat sa amin, hindi marunong lumangoy. Baka po talaga hindi kami nakaligtas,” Myrah Murillo, one of the victims, said.

(All of us panicked, not only the children. Most of us cannot swim so we may have died.)

According to Murillo, the group was en route to the main island of Siargao after attending a religious fellowship on Bagacay Island. They were immediately rescued as the boat was already near the dock when the incident happened.

No one was injured in the incident, the report said.

The victims said they will not file complaints against the boat operator and even vowed to extend assistance to him.  -- Sundy Locus/BAP, GMA News
