3 fishermen rescued from capsized boat off San Nicholas Shoal in Cavite

The Philippine Coast Guard on Thursday said three fishermen were rescued after their motorbanca capsized in the vicinity waters off San Nicholas Shoal in Cavite on August 23.

In a statement, PCG said the rescued fishermen were Joel Dela Cruz Dimano Jr., Alexander Bababel, and Joshue Morallos, all residents of Mariveles, Bataan.

Initial investigation revealed that their boat encountered engine trouble. The situation, however, was worsened by strong winds and rough seas, causing their motorbanca to capsize.

Fortunately, a passing cargo vessel was able to rescue them.

After learning of the capsizing, the PCG Medical Service went to the reported location and examined the survivors.

The fishermen were then ferried to Cunanan Wharf in Manila for further assistance and where the owner of the boat met them. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
