Woman shot and killed by live-in boyfriend in Balanga, Bataan

A 33-year-old woman in Balanga City, Bataan was allegedly gunned down by her live-in partner.

According to CJ Torida’s report on GMA Regional TV's “One North Central Luzon”, victim Regine Austria Ebueng had told her mother about her frequent arguments with the suspect Aldrin Soriano.

“Madalas sila nag aaway. Nagseselos po. Pinag-iisipan ‘yung anak ko ng kung ano-ano," the victim's mother Regina Marie Ebueng said.

"Kesyo may lalaki daw. Kasi po ayaw na makisama ng anak ko kasi noong huli bago ma-ospital ang anak ko binugbog na naman siya kaya inatake sa puso,” she added.

(They argued frequently because he was jealous. He was accusing my daughter of senseless things. Even telling her that she had a lover. My daughter doesn’t want to be with him anymore because the last time, before she was hospitalized she was again beaten up and that's why she had a heart attack.)

An investigation showed the victim’s neighbors heard a gunshot from Regine’s apartment prior to the incident.

“‘Yung batang maliit umakyat sa hagdanan. Sumunod yung dalawang kapatid. Eh, inalalayan ng anak ko kasi baka mahulog yung bunso, paglapit niya sa hagdanan bumunot na ng baril sa likod yung lalaki... Sabay putok sa ulo sa anak ko,” Regina said.

(A child went up their stairs and was followed by his siblings. My daughter helped the youngest one but Andrei suddenly shot her.)

Authorities said they tried to apprehend Soriano but he escaped. They are still searching for the suspect’s whereabouts.

“From Balanga, lumabas ng Abucay, dumaan ng highway, hinabol namin hanggang makalabas ng Pampanga,” Balanga City Police Station chief Poliuce Lt. Col. Dennis Orbista said.

(He went from Balanga to Abucay, crossed the highway and then we chased him until he went to Pampanga.)

“Isa sa mga tinitingnan namin... Kasi may indication na may involvement sa drugs ‘yung lalaki,” Orbista said.

(We’re also looking at his possible involvement with illegal drugs.)

The victim’s family, for their part, is seeking justice for her death. —Sundy Mae Locus/NB, GMA News
