Police nab suspect in rape-slay of teenage girl in Cavite

The Philippine National Police has arrested the suspect in the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Trece Martires City, Cavite.

According to the Region 4-A Police Regional Office, the suspect, identified as Elden Alegria, was arrested on Wednesday in San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan following manhunt operations.

Two others were arrested for allegedly harboring the suspect.

Police said charges of rape with homicide have already been filed against Alegria.

“This is a classic and outstanding continuing police investigation and operation resulting [in] the eventual arrest of suspects despite the crime [being] committed beyond the 24-hour lapse," PRO4A acting regional director Police Brigadier General Jose Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

A report on "Unang Balita" on Tuesday said the victim was a Grade 9 student. Her body, which had wounds to the head and neck, was discovered beneath a bridge.— Joahna Lei Casilao/VBL, GMA News
