NGCP sees power supply in Nueva Ecija electric coop NEECO I back this week

Power supply in Nueva Ecija 1 Electric Cooperative (NEECO 1) may be restored this week after being down due to Typhoon Karding, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said Wednesday.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza said all transmission lines to cooperatives that were affected by Karding have been fixed except for NEECO I.

"Ang nalalabi na lang na kailangan natin ayusin ay 'yung linya papunta sa NEECO I," Alabanza said. "'Yung sa linya papunta dito sa NEECO I, diyan natin nakita yung tatlong toreng dumapa dahil kay Karding."

(The remaining transmission line that needs to be fixed is in NEECO I, where three transmission towers are down due to Karding.)

"Inaasahan by today, makakapagbigay kami ng mas definite or siguradong restoration schedule pero hindi siguro ito magtatagal this week," she added.

(We are expecting by today we can give a more definite schedule for its restoration, but it would not reach beyond this week.)

Alabanza clarified that the restoration of transmission lines to cooperatives does not mean the power supply in households are also back, as cooperatives may also have issues with their lines to their customers that they need to fix.

NEECO I serves the municipalities of Jaen, Cabiao, San Antonio, San Isidro, and the City of Gapan.

In its report on Tuesday,  the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said power outages were experienced in 99 cities and municipalities due to Karding.

Of which, 28 areas already have their power supply back. —KBK, GMA News
