Calamba mayor warns vs secondary typhoid infections

MANILA, Philippines - Wary of a second wave of typhoid infections, officials of Calamba City in Laguna province on Friday warned residents affected by a recent typhoid outbreak to religiously take the antibiotics prescribed by doctors. Radio dzBB reported Friday morning that mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr warned residents of "secondary infections" caused by infected people passing on the disease to others, saying those who were affected should continue to take the medicines as prescribed by doctors or health officials even after they appear to have recovered. Scores of residents in Calamba's 13 villages were downed with typhoid since last month. Authorities are still confirming the possible cause of the outbreak. - GMANews.TV
