Ilocos Norte placed under state of calamity in wake of Neneng

A state of calamity has been declared in Ilocos Norte due to the onslaught of Tropical Depression “Neneng” in Luzon last week.

According to a report on “24 Oras”, losses to agriculture caused by the tropical cyclone have reached P80 million.

The damage in the infrastructure sector climbed to at least P90 million.

Affected residents were continuously being supplied with relief packages, the report said.

Clearing operations are also being conducted in areas hit by landslides, it added.

The Department of Public Works and Highways said it might take two to three weeks before the affected roads will be open to traffic. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA News
