The former chief of the anti-drug unit of the National Capital Region Police Office's (NCRPO) who along with 10 other police officers is facing complaints for the alleged abduction of three men in Cavite said their team would answer the allegations either in the Department of Justice or in court.
According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report on “24 Oras”, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Jay Orafa said he and his team did their duties and their operations were verifiable.
"On behalf of our team being implicated by the NBI, we will answer the complaint in the proper forum may it be either in DOJ or proper court. As far as we're concerned, we always do our duties and previous police operation accordingly. These can be verified as well in our other past operations,” Orafa said in a statement.
“We hope and pray that we will be given a day in court as well as a fair and objective process to prove that these are only malicious accusation to malign us to whatever interest they have,” he added.
The complaints against Orafa and ten members of the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit were filed in connection with the alleged abduction in Cavite of brothers Gio Mateos, 23, and Mico Mateos, 21, and their friend Gary Matreo, 22.
They all went missing on April 13, 2021.
The NBI has filed complaints against Orafa, Police Lieutenant Jesus Menez, Police Staff Sergeant Roy Piquant, Police Staff Sergeant Robert Allan Raz, Police Corporal Alric Natividad, Police Corporal Troy Paragas, Police Corporal Ronald John Lanaria, Police Corporal Ronald Montibon, Police Corporal Reynaldo Seno, Police Corporal Russel Solomon, and Police Corporal Christal Rosita.
The police officers also figured in the alleged abduction of a missing person in Dasmariñas after the NBI conducted back-tracking and were able to locate the vehicles.
Based on the CCTV footage, the police officers went to Dasmariñas after they allegedly kidnapped the three missing individuals in Alfonso, Cavite.
According to the NBI, the police entered the gate of a subdivision and abducted another person.
The NBI identified the missing individual as Ronaldo Añonuevo, 23-years-old.
The vehicles of the police officers went to SLEX, exited in Bicutan, and entered Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, the headquarters of the NCRPO.
“Mahirap po mag-isip sa araw araw na kung ano po ang lagay nila. Ang tagal po ng proseso, mahigit isang taon na po kasing nawawala yung kapatid ko, sana mabigyan po ng hustisya,” sister of Añonuevo said.
“Sobrang hirap po kasi sa araw araw po, siya na lang din po yung kasama ko sa buhay. Ganon pa po yung nangyari. Kuya uwi ka na,” she added.
