5 hurt after v-hire hits container van in Bohol town


TAGBILARAN CITY -  At least five people were injured in a rear-end collision Friday night along the national highway in Garcia Hernandez town, Bohol.

Police Staff Sergeant Walled Sagusay of the Garcia Hernandez police said a van-for-hire accidentally rear-ended a container van owned by Alturas Group of Companies at around 6 p.m.

The incident occurred in sitio Balitbiton in Barangay Malinao. Both vehicles were heading towards Tagbilaran City.

Initial investigation showed that the v-hire was  heavily damaged.

Rescuers and first responders attended to the injured and helped transport some of them to hospital.

The v-hire driver identified as Eddie Janobas, 46, a resident of Tagbilaran City, was rushed to Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital in Jagna town.

His four passengers Jestoni Dinampo, a resident of Tagbilaran; Mary Grace Achuela, a resident of Loay town; Ozzie Salvalleon, 32, a resident of Tagbilaran; and Irish Terante, 17, from Tagbilaran were also injured. Achuela and Terante were immediately brought to Tagbilaran for treatment.

Police said Janobas said the van's brakes failed and denied he was speeding. -- BAP, GMA News
