Over 26,000 outbound passengers monitored ahead of Christmas —PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has monitored 26,713 outbound passengers and 21,569 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide as of 6 a.m. Thursday, December 22.

In its update, the PCG said 2,080 personnel were deployed in 15 PCG Districts. It also said it has inspected 225 vessels and 242 motorbancas.

The PCG has placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on "heightened alert" to manage the influx of passengers during the Yuletide season from December 15, 2022 to January 7, 2023.

Earlier, PCG commandant Admiral Artemio Abu said all 25,000 personnel will be deployed nationwide for the holiday season.

The PCG reminded ship owners to ensure that all their vessels are in good condition before their trips for the safety of passengers and crew.

It also advised fishermen and ship crew to follow sea travel regulations to provide a comfortable, safe, and convenient transport service to the riding public. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
