In a report, the Coast Guard said the eight fishermen ventured out to the sea to fish on December 25 when their motorbanca submerged off Barangay Manglit in the municipality of Pintuyan due to the prevailing strong winds and big waves.

Those rescued were residents of Pagadian City and were  identified as:

  • Tommy Descartin, 46
  • Kenneth Preguli, 24
  • Garry Descartin, 47

  • Guillermo Habagat, 30

The deceased, residents of Misamis Oriental, were:

The PCG said the Pintuyan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office coordinated with the local government to assist the rescued fishermen and the bereaved families of the deceased individuals.
